Cuenta el relato bíblico que tras la muerte de Jesucristo en la crucifixión su cuerpo fue llevado a una tumba improvisada y colocado sobre una roca. Este lugar, en Jerusalén, se convertiría luego en uno de los centros de peregrinaje más importantes de la fe cristiana.

En el lugar se construyó una imponente basílica que cada año es visitada por miles de personas.

En el mismo lugar

Conocida como la Basílica del Santo Sepulcro, el lugar se encuentra ubicado sobre el montículo donde la tradición señala que Cristo fue crucificado dentro de Jerusalén.

El Santo Sepulcro cuenta con dos estructuras, la más pequeña de ellas está ubicada al interior y conserva el lugar exacto donde fue colocado Jesús tras su muerte.

Desde hace varias décadas la tumba de Cristo se encuentra protegida y resguardada por varias comunidades cristianas como la Iglesia católica, la Iglesia Ortodoxa o la Iglesia apostólica de Armenia.

La primera etapa de la Iglesia de la Resurrección fue mandada a construir por el emperador Constantino.

Decenas de católicos y cristianos hacen reverencia a la piedra donde se supone que estuvo el cuerpo de Jesús. Este es un punto muy importante de la visita al Santo Sepulcro.

¿Qué tiene dentro la tumba de Jesús?

El lugar está vacío, no hay nada más que una losa en el centro.

De hecho, fue en el año 2016 cuando científicos levantaron esa losa para investigar a detalle lo que estaba dentro y encontraron la piedra de la tumba de Jesucristo.
